Robin and I work together with clients who report both chronic pain and emotional issues such as anxiety. It’s possible that chronic pain is causing mood concerns. Chronic mood concerns could be influencing perceived physical pain. The first step is to identify separate issues and reduce their related symptoms. Robin does this through acupuncture, Shonishin non-needle techniques, and other facets of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Using a Cognitive-Behavioral approach, I help clients understand their thoughts and their beliefs and how these influence feelings and behaviors.
This dual approach helps us recognize the range of factors that affect how we feel. Increased awareness helps the client see these connections and consciously re-calibrate lifestyle choices and meaning to life events.
